Is GTA 6 region-locked?
PlayStation and Xbox do not share a sentence. Rockstar Support groups PlayStation download codes by the country on the account. The same article says Xbox codes are not region-locked. The game launches Thursday, November 19, 2026 on PS5 & Xbox Series X|S. Age rating stays Rating Pending.
- PlayStation codes
- Account must sit in the code’s group
- Xbox codes
- Not region-locked
- Physical box
- A download code, no disc
- Japan codes
- 170 days after the issuance date
The article states both, and this page keeps both
Region restrictions for code redemptions are based on the region associated with the platform account. If you buy either version in a region different from that account, the article says the version must match the account’s region. It also recommends buying from a retailer in the country of the platform account.
Under PlayStation, codes purchased in a listed region are only for accounts registered to that region’s countries. Under Xbox, the article says codes purchased are not region-locked. The Xbox line is not a shorter way of writing the PlayStation groups.
PlayStation groups, as published
Japan is its own group. Product codes in Japan expire 170 days after the issuance date, which the article says is the launch date (November 19, 2026), due to regional regulations. This page does not turn 170 days into another calendar date.
Rest of Asia names Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. The United Kingdom is its own row. It is not inside Rest of EMEA and Asia. A country those lines leave out is not given a group here.
Xbox is the other sentence
Xbox codes purchased are not region-locked. That is the whole Xbox line in the code section. It does not name Series X separately from Series S, and it does not name a storage size.
The physical version is a download code inside the box. A disc will not be included. The article says that box is expected for shipping and pickup starting November 12, 2026, so a redeemed code can preload. There is no physical Ultimate Edition. The editions guide keeps the edition comparison, and the preload guide keeps the November 12 clock.
No PC version is announced, so there is no PC code group on this page. That status stays on the PC guide. Store unlock times are a different question from code groups. Those clocks stay on the release-time guide.
Claims this page will not invent
Rating Pending stays on the age-rating guide. This page does not treat a store badge as a certificate. It also does not print an install size.

Frequently asked questions
Is GTA 6 region locked on PS5?
Rockstar Support’s Grand Theft Auto VI platforms article, last updated August 18, 2026, says PlayStation codes are only for accounts registered to the country group printed for that code. The groups are Brazil, LATAM, North America, Korea, Japan, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, Rest of Asia, and Rest of EMEA and Asia. This page lists the countries in each group and does not merge them into one Europe list or one Asia list.
Is GTA 6 region locked on Xbox?
The same article says Xbox codes are not region-locked. It also says a purchase made in a region different from the platform account must match that account’s region. Those are two published sentences. This page does not turn the Xbox line into the PlayStation groups, or the PlayStation groups into the Xbox line.
Does the physical box skip the region rule?
No disc is in the box. The article says the physical version contains a download code, available starting November 12 so a redeemed code can preload. The code section is the region rule for that code. Disc details stay on the editions guide.
When do Japanese GTA 6 product codes expire?
The article says product codes in Japan expire 170 days after the issuance date, which is the launch date (November 19, 2026), due to regional regulations. This page does not convert those 170 days into a second calendar date.
What if my country is not in a published group?
This page does not assign a group the article does not name. The same article recommends buying from a retailer in the country of the platform account, to avoid activation problems. A country left off Rest of Asia or Rest of EMEA and Asia is not added here.
Is there a PC region rule for GTA 6?
No PC version of GTA 6 is announced, so this page does not invent a PC code group. Platform status stays on the PC guide. Unlock clocks for store regions are a different question and stay on the release-time guide.
