Does GTA 6 have split-screen?
The stores print one player. The US PlayStation store lists “1 player.” The US Xbox capabilities list includes “Single player” and does not include split-screen or local co-op. Both descriptions call Grand Theft Auto VI a single-player experience. The game launches Thursday, November 19, 2026 on PS5 & Xbox Series X|S.

Lines the stores actually print
- PlayStation chip: 1 player
- PlayStation sentence: a single-player experience
- Xbox capability: Single player
Those lines are the US PlayStation Standard Edition page and the US Xbox product page, read October 7, 2026. “1 player” is a PlayStation compatibility chip, next to Offline play enabled and Remote Play supported. “Single player” is one Xbox capability, next to Optimized for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox achievements, Xbox presence, and Xbox cloud saves.
Other pages treat two protagonists as couch co-op, or treat the player-count chip as a forever ban. This page does not. A store chip is not a second controller, and a missing line is not a promise about a later patch.
Online play between a PlayStation and an Xbox is a different question. That answer stays on the crossplay guide.
Jason and Lucia are not two controllers
Both store descriptions name Jason and Lucia. The same paragraphs still say the game is a single-player experience, and the capability chips still say one player. This page does not read those names as split-screen.
Footage of control moving between the two characters lives on the character-switching guide. That guide already says the footage is not story co-op. This page does not add a second player to it.
Local routes this page will not invent
Remote Play is the chip beside “1 player.” It streams one console to another screen. It is not two people sharing a television. Cloud gaming stays on the cloud guide.
No PC version is announced, so a PC build that adds local co-op has no announced game to modify. That sentence is about the launch platforms. It is not a date for a later PC release. The PC answer stays on the PC guide.
A missing split-screen line is not a promise a later mode will never ship. Store pages can gain a line later. An online mode, if one is announced, stays on the crossplay guide.

Frequently asked questions
Does GTA 6 have split-screen?
The US PlayStation store lists “1 player,” checked October 7, 2026. The US Xbox capabilities list is Single player, Optimized for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox achievements, Xbox presence, and Xbox cloud saves. Split-screen is not one of those lines. A missing line is not a promise the feature will never exist.
Can two people play GTA 6 on one console?
Neither store page lists local co-op or a second controller. Both descriptions say Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience. This page does not turn that sentence into a forever ban on a later mode.
Do Jason and Lucia mean two players?
The store descriptions name Jason and Lucia and still print a player count of one. Naming two characters is not a second controller. What the footage shows about switching stays on the character-switching guide, which already says that footage is not story co-op.
Is Remote Play the same as split-screen?
No. “Remote Play supported” sits next to “1 player.” Sony’s Remote Play streams a console you have to another screen on that account. It is not two people on one television. Whether the chip is cloud gaming stays on the cloud guide.
Is online co-op the same question?
No. Online play between consoles stays on the crossplay guide. This page is only the local question: two people, one screen, at the November 19, 2026 launch.
