Tailgater

The Tailgater is identified as an upcoming vehicle in Grand Theft Auto VI. No GTA VI-specific trailer appearance, timestamp, screenshot, promotional placement, regional sighting, specification, or revised variant is identified here. Its confirmed manufacturer remains Obey; its earlier classification was Sedans, with a midsize body.

The original Tailgater’s overall form takes most closely after the Audi A6 (C6), while the Audi A8 (D4) informs the grille, the low body-side swell, and its ten-spoke wheel design. Its swollen quarter panels resemble those of the Audi RS6 (C6). Projector-style headlamps recall the Holden Commodore VZ, and the rear treatment draws largely from the Audi A4 B7.

Its front carries a narrowing chrome-edged grille with two horizontal bright strips, plus lower ducts containing decorative round fog lamps. A chrome bar joins the rear lamps, while rectangular exhaust outlets sit at either end of the bumper. The secondary paint colour can form a broad stripe over the nose, roof, and trunk; cabin stitching follows the primary paint. Its standard wheel pattern is also sold as the Obey RS wheel option.

Michael De Santa’s usual personal vehicle is a black Tailgater. Following Monkey Business, his example carries race brakes, an EMS level-three engine upgrade, sports transmission, xenon lamps, a double-vented hood, a lip spoiler, sport skirts, a chrome grille, dual exhausts, a painted rear bumper and diffuser, dark smoke tint, Musical Horn 5, and black Dollar Lowrider wheels. Changes made by the player remain when his personal car returns.

A Tailgater can be taken from Premium Deluxe Motorsport after Complications. Eye in the Sky leaves two in a hangar for Franklin’s airport departure, apparently belonging to Devin Weston. Franklin drives a red one after The Big Score. Unknowing the Truth includes an obtainable Epsilon Blue example bearing the K1FFLOM plate if the player steals the money, while towing work can assign one as an impound target.

In GTA Online, the Tailgater was offered for $55,000 through Southern San Andreas Super Autos, then removed from that store with the San Andreas Mercenaries update in enhanced editions. It had also been a tutorial starting-car choice in Mall or Nothing and appeared on Simeon Yetarian’s requested-vehicle lists. Some older list seeds can still cause one to appear at former request locations after patch 1.51.

Known parking locations included Galileo Observatory, Los Santos Golf Club, Del Perro Pier, Vespucci Beach’s tennis courts, Maze Bank Arena, Vinewood Racetrack, Puerto Del Sol Yacht Club, Backlot City, and Pillbox Hill. It may also appear at LSIA taxi areas when the player is already using one. Liquid Assets uses an Epsilon Blue, Epsilon-plated Tailgater that lasts only for that Free Mode session and cannot be garaged.

Despite its sedan class, the Tailgater’s acceleration and maximum speed were described as competitive with the Exemplar and F620. It grips well at lower and middle speeds, though braking is needed to avoid understeer as speed rises. It resists deformation and engine damage better than many vehicles, and shares an engine note with the Sentinel, Gresley, Surano, and Schafter.

The car has no B-pillars, yet its passenger belt anchors appear between the doors. Certain modification parts show modelling seams, especially rear bumpers where black lines can become visible. Early GTA V files contain two nearly identical handling entries called TAILGATE, while unused light textures indicate a prior rear-lamp arrangement. A Premium Deluxe Motorsport example had unusual wheels and a splitter resembling the Custom Front Splitter.
