Buccaneer Custom

The Buccaneer Custom was visible at 0:27 in the first GTA VI trailer. It was parked outside a car meet in Vice City’s Stockyard neighborhood, positioned behind a PMP 700. This is the confirmed GTA VI sighting; the regular Buccaneer was also present in that trailer.

The trailer car differs from its GTA Online counterpart in several visible ways. It has taller-profile tires, a keyhole placed centrally on the rear decklid, and a pinstripe treatment that was not offered for the Online version. It has been spotted in the Vice City region.

Albany is the in-game manufacturer. In GTA Online, the vehicle is assigned to the Muscle class and recorded as having a personal body type. Its Online mechanical package follows the regular Buccaneer closely: a 440-cubic-inch, or 7.2-litre, V8 according to its badging, a five-speed transmission, and rear-wheel drive.

The Custom uses the same engine audio as the standard car, with high revs and a loud exhaust note. Its lower suspension made it feel more settled and responsive than the ordinary Buccaneer, though the reduced ride height made curbs and uneven surfaces more troublesome.

In GTA Online, converting a Buccaneer at Benny’s Original Motor Works cost $390,000. The conversion normally removed the roof, although a roof could later be fitted at a mod shop. The front and rear styling remained largely that of the donor car, while much of the original chrome was replaced by trim that could take paint.

Underneath, the Custom received a paintable frame, exposed driveshaft, hydraulic hardware linked to the suspension, and two exhaust outlets in place of the regular car’s single Y-shaped arrangement. Its standard suspension layout was also replaced. Upgraded hydraulics allowed the car to drag, in the manner of the 3D Universe Tornado.

Rather than the standard Buccaneer’s two-colour body arrangement, the Custom used one main body colour and matching lower-frame colour. Interior and gauge colours could be selected, while the secondary paint slot covered lower-side sections, lamp surrounds, window and rear trim, and mirrors. Big Worm wheels and whitewall tires were included.

Car Meet Vehicle Cargo missions featured several fixed Buccaneer Custom builds. Their paint and livery changed, but each meet scenario reused its own modified cars. Versions 2 and 3 appeared at the Vinewood Boulevard meet; 4 and 5 at the Power Station; and 6 and 7 at Vinewood Bowl. These examples used hardtop roofs, stock cabin and dial colours, and licence plates whose lettering stayed the same even when plate colours varied.

Version 1 contained an invalid rear-bumper setting linked to the regular Buccaneer’s short wheelie bar, preventing that particular build from being recreated. It served as the modification basis for the other examples. Version 7 lacked a colour reference and reverted to model 34. None of these mission vehicles could be kept in Personal Garages or taken into Los Santos Customs or another mod shop.

The model appeared at car meets during Vehicle Cargo work and was used by Ballas and Los Santos Vagos in several activities, including Grove Street Survival, Scrapyard Survival, Gerald’s Last Play, Security Contract: Vehicle Recovery, and missions connected with The Contract. A Chino Custom may accompany it during the Vagos lowrider version of the Popstar Payphone Hit. A purchased single- or triple-Intake Bug Catcher hood can still be paired with an air filter upgrade, but that filter remains invisible; the same issue affects the Chino.
