The Vapid Caracara 4x4 is a four-door off-road pickup added to Grand Theft Auto Online with The Diamond Casino & Resort update in July 2019 and due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI. It is the civilian counterpart to the six-wheeled, machine-gun-equipped Caracara that its in-game blurb references.

GTA VI footage and imagery

An orange Caracara 4x4 appears at the Thrillbilly Mud Club in the first Grand Theft Auto VI trailer, at 0:55, driving through mud in the background. It also appears repeatedly in the second trailer and in screenshots published on the GTA VI website.

Brian Heder is shown using the truck in GTA VI promotional material. Those appearances confirm the model’s presence in the game, while the detailed equipment, handling and customization information described below comes from its GTA Online version.

Ford-derived exterior cues

The Caracara 4x4 is chiefly modeled on the second-generation Ford F-150 Raptor, chassis code P552. Its grille borrows from 2015–2018 F-150 Lariat models, although its lone central bar recalls the Shelby F-150 rather than the Lariat’s arrangement.

Its exhaust placement resembles the first-generation Raptor. The headlamp shape takes after the facelifted twelfth-generation Ford F-Series, while their dimensions and position resemble those of the 2014–2021 Toyota Tundra. The recessed LED area above the grille also echoes the Tundra’s grille-top vent.

The tail lamps resemble second-generation Nissan Titan units. Ram pickups and the Ram Rebel TRX concept informed the hood treatment. Several paint schemes also reference Ford performance trucks: Black Double Stripe and White Vapid Double Stripe evoke Shelby F-150 graphics, while Rear Vapid Angle Stripes resembles SVT Raptor rear striping.

Changes from the Caracara

Compared with the original six-wheel Caracara, this model has four-wheel drive and a shorter layout. It retained the vented hood and the light bars above the grille. Its front bumper keeps the six-wheel truck’s overall shape, but uses a smaller mesh opening and perforations at the outer ends.

The grille-mounted light strips operate as high beams. Roof-mounted lamps and fog lamps fitted through certain bumper options do not work. Its engine is an inline-four with throttle bodies; it revs higher and produces more power than the original Caracara’s engine.

After the Los Santos Summer Special update, its engine audio was changed to a Guardian-like sound, despite resembling a V8. The Commercial Bumper, Primary Rollpan Bumper, Dual Long Rounded Exhausts and Vapid Large Grated Grille are among customization items with Ford F-150 or 2017–2020 Raptor-inspired styling.

Cabin, colours and wheels

In GTA Online, the Caracara 4x4 uses the Cavalcade interior also found in the Riata and Kamacho, with a Vapid emblem on the steering-wheel horn pad. Vapid is its manufacturer, and it is categorized in the Off-Road class.

The primary paint selection covers most exterior panels. Secondary paint is used on grille pieces, springs and applicable modified parts. Its wheels share their design with the Guardian; they are a paintable version of the Bodhi-style wheel, including a painted center cap.

Adding any Rack modification gives a small traction increase in the same manner as a spoiler. An eleventh Advanced Flag restricts tyre-ground clipping on suspension compression to the standard wheels, and stops the suspension from collapsing when shots strike the wheel centers.

Online roles, price and quirk

The Caracara 4x4 cost $875,000 from Southern San Andreas Super Autos in GTA Online. The Duggan Crime Family uses it in Casino Story missions including House Keeping and Cashing Out, in The Contract’s Asset Protection Security Contract, and during several Operation Paper Trail-related missions from The Criminal Enterprises.

Madrazo Cartel members can use a black example during the Finders Keepers random event when it begins at La Fuente Blanca. It carries cocaine supplies; taking it to a Cocaine Lockup makes it inaccessible after delivery.

On paved roads, its tight turning circle and four-wheel-drive setup can produce a wavering feel. It is more settled over rough terrain and resistant to spinning out, although it cannot match the speed of faster Off-Road vehicles. Its large tyres are exposed targets for gunfire, making bulletproof tyres useful in combat. Taking it to Los Santos Customs cancels the drive-in cutscene, as with the original Caracara.
