Utility Truck (Contender-based)

Two mutually exclusive fixed loads can occupy the service bed. One arrangement contains sandbags, a red toolbox and a white pail. The other substitutes a wheelbarrow, two pails and a broom alongside sandbags. These objects are built-in extras rather than detachable cargo, unlike the items carried by the small utility trailer.

In GTA V and GTA Online, the truck is especially frequent in industrial districts across Los Santos County and Blaine County. It is common around Murrieta Heights, oil derricks, La Mesa and Cypress Flats, and can also turn up near Mission Row, Textile City and Strawberry. Paleto Bay appearances are unusual, including on the Great Ocean Highway. Multiple set locations exist around Los Santos International Airport, including beside a warehouse at the runways’ south-western end.

Before it became a dedicated work vehicle in Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online, the truck retained the cab shape of the Vapid Contender from Grand Theft Auto IV. Its conversion centers on a heavy-duty service body rather than the Contender’s regular pickup arrangement.

The styling combines cues from the eleventh-generation Ford F-150 with the larger Ford F-250 and F-450 Super Duty chassis family. The pickup-derived cab is paired with the kind of side-compartment equipment body used by utility contractors.

The GTA V-era model keeps a plain, unvented bonnet and adds a registration-plate mount to the front bumper. A brush bar spans the front, with a small stone guard beneath it. The front guard has a visual fault: it appears suspended ahead of the central air intake rather than properly attached.

Black rear cab pillars, roof marker lamps and a sun visor distinguish the upper cab area. Its chrome or silver lower trim is shorter in shape than that of the regular Contender, while extended side steps run beneath the doors. In first-person view, the small deflector fitted to the bumper does not render visibly.

The rear body uses enclosed storage lockers along both sides, resembling the utility body on the Utility Van from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Dark wheel-arch surrounds contrast with chrome or silver lower panels and much of the bed’s upper edge. Toward the rear, the body sides slope inward.

A narrow central tailgate sits between square lamps comparable to those used on the Camper and Ambulance. The rear bumper also carries a plate recess and silver-finished upper and lower sections. The cabin uses the shared interior found in vehicles including the second-generation Burrito and the Stockade.

It appears only as a weathered white truck, with O'Connor Landscape Gardening markings on its doors. Its wheels match the Contender’s GTA IV design. The O'Connor name may allude to Brian O'Conner and the 1999 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning associated with The Fast and the Furious.

The earlier-game Utility Truck uses a front-mounted V8 with an intake air filter, driving the rear wheels through a four-speed transmission. Its engine audio is shared with vans such as the Pony and Speedo. Although no exhaust pipe is modeled, fumes still emerge from the rear.

Its low output and limited grip make it slow to build speed and poorly suited to steep off-road climbs unless it approaches them quickly. Clearance beneath the truck still helps it cross rough surfaces in town or rural areas. Dark exhaust smoke appears while idling and during gearchanges, consistent with its worn condition.
