The Nagasaki Buzzard Attack Chopper is a light attack helicopter featured in Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online and due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI. In second-trailer footage a Buzzard piloted by Jason Duval chases an Airboat 09 across the Grassrivers, marking the aircraft's return in the new setting.

GTA VI trailer appearance

At 2:18 in Grand Theft Auto VI’s second trailer, the helicopter is shown over the Grassrivers with moderate but clearly visible revisions from its Grand Theft Auto V-era model. The cockpit has been redesigned, and a gun is mounted along the side.

That trailer shot is the identified GTA VI evidence. It confirms the revised exterior seen in the Grassrivers, but does not establish whether its earlier weapons, passenger capacity, purchase method, or flight characteristics will return unchanged.

Little Bird inspiration

The Buzzard Attack Chopper draws primarily from the AH-6, the armed version of the MH-6 Little Bird light observation helicopter. Its tail also takes cues from older Little Bird-family designs: the OH-6 Cayuse and MD 500C.

A forward-looking infrared unit beneath the cabin resembles equipment fitted to the AH/MH-6M Little Bird. Earlier GTA models paired this with a compact body, a bubble-style glazed cockpit, short skids, stub wings, an exposed rear area and a short tail boom. A single turboshaft engine in the rear drives a five-blade main rotor, with its exhaust positioned below the tail boom.

From prototype to service

The aircraft first appeared in The Ballad of Gay Tony under the shorter Buzzard name. One storyline example was a prototype display machine taken during an arms deal; Yusuf Amir later had it painted gold. The standard version was black, and Liberty City police treated the helicopter as illegal. Its early rear compartment was open but could not carry passengers.

Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online renamed it the Buzzard Attack Chopper and presented it as a mass-produced aircraft used by military and law-enforcement forces. An unarmed civilian version was also offered. The returning armed model retained its general shape, miniguns and rocket pods, but the repositioned ammunition feeds, altered stub wings and added side steps made room for two people in the rear. Enhanced editions also used a dedicated Flyer instrument-dial set derived from the Maverick and Police Maverick.

Armament and exposed cockpit

Earlier armed Buzzards carry twin pilot-operated miniguns and rocket launchers. The guns resemble M134 miniguns, while the pods hold rockets modeled after Hydra 70-type unguided rockets. In GTA V and Online, the missiles may be guided or unguided; a co-pilot can aim and fire missiles through the mounted camera, though those shots travel more slowly and fire at a lower rate.

The GTA V-era miniguns fire together rather than alternating as the Annihilator’s guns do. They shoot rapidly, accurately and without overheating, but have lower damage than the Annihilator’s weapons. The large canopy leaves occupants highly vulnerable to gunfire, and a destroyed tail rotor can send the helicopter out of control. It can evade homing missiles more readily than larger aircraft such as the Savage, Annihilator and Cargobob, yet a standard explosive hit destroys it.

Purchases, paint and handling

In Grand Theft Auto V, Warstock Cache & Carry listed the armed Buzzard for $2,000,000; GTA Online priced it at $1,750,000. Story Mode examples are normally black, although a rare white version can appear. Personal-aircraft conversion in Online allows only a primary body colour, while its markings remain fixed. Yusuf’s gold example became available through Tier 4 of The Chop Shop career progress and can only be kept in a hangar.

GTA V and Online classify it under Helicopters, with the body type recorded as Single Heli, and Nagasaki is its manufacturer. It is quick and highly agile, though slower than the Annihilator and prone to losing altitude at maximum speed. Its small footprint helps it land where larger helicopters have difficulty, including uneven ground. The short four-second missile cooldown after two rapid launches and the risk of detonating a rocket at very low altitude are operational quirks of the earlier versions.
