The Police Maverick is a long-serving police helicopter, built by Western Company in GTA IV and by Buckingham from GTA V onward, and it is due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI. Originally just a Maverick with a police livery, it adopted a more modern airframe design starting with GTA V and traditionally joins pursuits at higher wanted levels.
GTA VI material shown
No trailer time, screenshot, promotional image, or in-game region is identified for the Police Maverick. The available information only lists it among the aircraft expected to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI, without describing a Vice City or Leonida-specific configuration.
Consequently, features such as its livery, law-enforcement markings, equipment, spawn points, and pursuit role in GTA VI have not been specified. Details of cameras, winches, occupants, and wanted-level responses described below belong to earlier games.
Bell-derived early model
In Grand Theft Auto IV, Episodes from Liberty City, and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, the Police Maverick was a police conversion of the ordinary Maverick. Its underlying shape drew on the Bell 206, rather than using a dedicated police-helicopter body.
The GTA IV version carried a nose camera and steps beside the rear compartment doors. Most of its fuselage and tail boom were white, while the engine housing, sections of the tail, and narrow side striping used the secondary colour. LCPD identifiers appeared on the body, including POLICE lettering at the nose and tail.
Chinatown Wars reused that general GTA IV design, but gave it a simpler traditional-looking scheme: a narrow blue band along the lower fuselage and POLICE below the front-side windows. It could not be controlled in that game, retained the machine gun associated with earlier 3D Universe Police Mavericks, and was obtainable through a hidden method during Payback.
GTA V airframe influences
Grand Theft Auto V and Online replaced the Maverick-derived shape with a separate modern design. Its overall inspiration is the Eurocopter AS350 Écureuil. The paired exhaust outlets instead resemble the twin-engine Eurocopter AS355N Twin Squirrel, also known as the Eurocopter Fennec. The cockpit takes cues from the Aérospatiale SA 360 Dauphin, narrowed through the middle in a manner comparable to the MD Helicopters MD 500, while the side treatment derives from the PZL SW-4 Puszczyk.
The new helicopter has a sharply angled, heavily glazed forward cabin, side doors, a belly-mounted searchlight/camera assembly, an open sliding-door cabin bay, access steps, extended skids, twin winches, a three-blade main rotor, and a left-side two-blade tail rotor. A tail strike guard and large vertical fins sit toward the rear. Its white-and-black police finish takes inspiration from Los Angeles Police Department helicopters; LSPD text and insignia are carried on the airframe.
The cabin uses a central flight-instrument panel similar to the Maverick’s. Enhanced editions use the Flyer gauge set shared with the Maverick and Buzzard. The Police Maverick is classed as a helicopter with the Single Heli body type in GTA V and GTA Online.
Camera and deployment roles
Only non-player-operated GTA V Police Mavericks can use the searchlight. A player seated as copilot may instead operate the camera to observe and tag other players. In Eye in the Sky, its system is used to identify people from RFID data on 2012 San Andreas driving licences; the display includes zoom, bearing, altitude, and LSPD branding. It can pick up distant speech through a microphone and offers thermal viewing, although a target behind solid cover loses signal unless thermal vision is used.
Online missions also use the system to read vehicle plates in some enhanced-edition activities. In Planning Work: Vault Code, the helicopter is taken to follow the Union Depository manager and record evidence using its surveillance equipment, though a retained mission aircraft loses the stable-control and camera functions.
Its open cabin permits winch use by NOOSE TRU personnel or other Online players. Police Mavericks can land to put four agents on the ground during a three-star pursuit. In GTA IV, two officers occupied the sides and fired carbines; The Ballad of Gay Tony substituted Advanced MGs, while NOOSE TRU could replace regular officers at four stars when the FIB was absent.
Handling and vulnerabilities
The GTA IV aircraft handled much like the civilian Maverick: manageable in city flying, but slower than the Annihilator and less nimble than the compact Buzzard. Its exposed forward glazing left pilot and copilot vulnerable to fire from elevated or rifle-armed opponents. At five stars or above, an Annihilator could take its place.
The GTA V and Online version is unarmoured, with average climbing and weight, decent manoeuvrability, and speed below the Swift, FH-1 Hunter, and other faster helicopters. Heavy Sniper fire can damage the engine in two hits, though it can remain airborne for a little more than two minutes before engine failure. A standard explosive destroys it in one hit; explosive Heavy Sniper Mk II rounds require two or three. Its manoeuvrability can evade ordinary homing missiles, but it lacks countermeasures against stronger tracking from the Deluxo, Oppressor Mk II, or Ruiner 2000. Tail damage can hasten destruction.
