The container/curtain-side Trailer is a towable twin-axle cargo trailer from GTA V and GTA Online, offered in two configurations that share a common chassis with several other trailers. This utility trailer is due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI.

Grand Theft Auto VI Status

The container and curtain-side Trailer is stated to be due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI. No trailer timestamp, screenshot, promotional image, region, or GTA VI-specific use is identified for it.

The available GTA VI information does not establish whether either cargo-body configuration, any particular livery, or any towing vehicle has been shown in the new game. Its confirmed appearance should therefore be kept separate from the detailed GTA V and GTA Online information.

Cargo Body Configurations

The Trailer has two cargo arrangements on the same underlying frame. One carries a weathered, greyish shipping container resembling the container used by the Dock Trailer. The other uses a blue curtain-side body, whose closed metal side curtains are indicated by a row of retaining straps along its lower edge.

Both versions have rear metal doors, but those doors are fixed parts rather than functioning openings. Textures include Jetsam and Bilgeco markings for the container, although neither marking is used on the towable model. Those graphics may have been carried over from static container props, or may represent abandoned trailer liveries.

Frame and Towing Fleet

At the front, the Trailer uses two landing supports. Its shared chassis also includes underside side guards and a rear underride bar fitted with round lights like those found on many semi-trucks. Several other towable trailer models use this same frame and its internal vehicle name, even though players do not see that name.

The Barracks Semi, Docktug, Hauler, Packer, Phantom, holiday Phantom, Phantom Wedge, Phantom Custom, Hauler Custom, and Phantom Custom can tow this trailer. It is comparatively light among the trailers described, allowing its towing truck to reach higher speeds than with the other trailer types. Like other trailers, it has no independent driving capability and uses a handling definition shared with similar models.

Los Santos Traffic Locations

In Grand Theft Auto V, the Trailer is especially common around Terminal, where Flatbed and Tanker trailers also appear. The area contains many non-towable box-trailer props as well. Phantoms and Packers regularly pull it on freeways, while Haulers, Phantoms, and Packers may be found with one near the Dutch London Street off-ramps and connecting roads in La Puerta.

Parked examples may occur opposite the Sandy Shores Airfield hangar on Panorama Drive, in or near the Murrieta Oil Field, and outside a warehouse or service yard on Joshua Road north of Harmony and the railway. It can also appear at Los Santos port warehouses and parking areas. Gas stations can host it beside Tanker trailers, particularly the Great Ocean Highway station by Del Perro Beach.

GTA Online traffic can include Trailer combinations with Phantoms, Haulers, and Packers, though Terminal appearances are less frequent there than in the single-player game. During Satellite Communications, Lost MC members load satellite dishes into one attached to a Hauler. It is also used for Phantom Wedge supply sales, with as many as two trailers taken to a collection point for Cargobob pickup, and serves as the cargo trailer in Haulage Organization Work.

Handling File Anomaly

On the original Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 releases of GTA V, the container or curtain-side trailer, the box trailer, and the ramp trailer each had a separate handling.dat entry: trailer, trailer2, and trailerl. In practice, all three models used the shared TRAILER handling line instead of those individual entries.

The enhanced release replaced handling.dat with XML-based handling.meta data, and the unused individual entries were removed. The Trailer therefore changed in its underlying data arrangement without gaining a separate active handling setup.
